DT Brown Telephone Pea Seeds
Grow one of the most well-known varieties of climbing peas with the DT Brown Telephone Pea Seeds. The peas are sweet in flavour and have a well-filled pod. They are a fairly tall variety that needs to be well-supported and is Hardy Annual. Can be harvested in 14-16 weeks.
How to grow
Before sowing these seeds, prep the soil well with compost and/or aged manure.
Prepare flat trenches 15cm wide and 5cm deep. Sow seeds in a zig-zag fashion along the middle of the trench with 7.5cm between seeds. Fill in with soil and gently firm down.
Best sown in dark/damp soil where water is not required until seedlings emerge. Where more than one row of peas is required, allow 1m between rows. Protect the crop from birds, particularly during early growth. Train young seedlings up to trellis or support. Keep well watered and mulch to assist with water retention.
Further fertilising is not required as legumes produce their own nitrogen.
